Living Wills

A Living Will is your declaration that you do not want any extra-ordinary efforts taken to prolong your life when you are in a terminal condition or permanently unconscious state. For the patient on life support, it is the “pull the plug” document.
According to the Living Will, a “terminal condition” is defined as a condition from which you cannot recover that will cause death “within a relatively short time if life sustaining treatment is not administered”.

According to the Living Will, a “permanently unconscious state” is one where you are irreversibly unaware of yourself or your environment and there is a total loss of cerebral cortical functioning.

Attorney assistance is helpful in comprehending the precise language of the document, executing the document properly, and handling and distributing the document so that is effective when needed.
